Together, we can lift up every scholar
BA families are our partners in the education of their children. The critical task of educating a child calls for the school, the scholar, and the family to work together to ensure success.
Our School-Family-Scholar Commitment reflects this shared responsibility and outlines our roles and obligations. To keep families connected with our school and their child’s educational experience, we ask family members to:
- Volunteer at BA for at least ten (10) hours per school year, 5 hours before Winter Break and 5 hours before May 15.
- Attend celebrations and exhibitions of student academic and artistic accomplishments.
- Attend scheduled Family-Teacher conferences, planned home visits, and other important meetings.
In addition to Family Orientation, Report Card Conferences, and Friday Celebrations, we’re committed to including parents and caregivers in our I CAN culture. It’s not uncommon for a teacher or assistant teacher to call a scholar’s home to highlight a positive accomplishment or behavior or share a growing concern. At the same time, we welcome calls and emails from you.
You can expect us to regularly share details of our daily experiences through emails, texts, a monthly newsletter, and our website.
The more we chat, the better, and the stronger our connection, the greater our energy force for the benefit of our scholars and community.
Family Orientation
We hold Family Orientations every July, the week before the first day of school. Orientations include a review of the BA Scholar and Family Handbook, presenting key school policies, information about the instructional program, and critical systems for year-round family communication.
Report Card Conferences
Following the conclusion of the first, second, and third quarters, parents attend Academic Progress Conferences with their children’s teachers.
Friday Celebrations
Community Celebration takes place every Friday. These school-wide gatherings showcase our scholars’ grit and integrity while spotlighting the sense of community we all value. Friday Celebrations allow us to publicly demonstrate our gratitude for each other as one BA team and family.
